Welcome to IAA Video:
A new employee welcome video that I worked on from concept to final delivery. My responsibilities include preparing video storyboard, supervising in-office recording with the CEO and Chief People Officer, taking B roll footage (at both Chicago branches and corporate office), creating all graphics elements, audio mixing and selecting, editing everything together to deliver a welcome video that represent IAA's culture. The video is shared via QR code printed on postcards which would be sent to new hires before they start their first day.

Customer Service Representative Recruitment Video:
A series of recruitment videos I worked on that focuses on high-turnover roles. These are used by HR on their career site job posts to give potential candidates an idea of what it is like to work at IAA as a CSR.
ALEX on Leave of Absence
What is ALEX on Leave of Absence?
ALEX on Leave of Absence is a newly launched product and part of Jellyvision's ALEX Benefits Platform. Just like ALEX Benefits Counselor, it simulates a conversation with a real person that asks questions, remembers answers, and offers personalized guidance with a bit of personality. The goal of the product is to guide employees through the daunting leave of absence process. Employees will learn if they are qualify for leave, if they’ll be paid, and if their jobs will be protected... all anonymously.

My responsibilities:
I joined ALEX on Leave of Absence team during the initial concept and planning phase. I led media design and production on three high-fidelity prototypes (FMLA Maternity Leave, California Maternity Leave, Illness/Injury Leave), which eventually turned into the fully functional final product.

My main responsibility as lead media designer/producer was to arrange audio, text, art, and design elements within Jellyvision's in-house development tool, to create an immersive interactive experience. I collaborated with product owner, creative director, artists, sound designers, and engineers to create and carry out production plan for any new feature requests and creative updates. I managed the structure and conditional logic of the product's script, so each user has a unique, customized experience. In addition, I coordinated with Engineers on unique features and data integration, and worked with QA to fix and review reported bugs.
As part of the Media Production review team, I also reviewed customizations for clients to ensure high quality standards were met.
Challenges:

Leave of Absence is very complex. In addition to each employer's leave policies, there are also FMLA and many different state leave benefits, as well as saved PTO. There were many days and nights I spent sitting down with the Product Owner and the Writer/Director, to figure out the business logic behind the product. For example, someone who was applying for maternity leave might be eligible to get paid from many different sources: pay from Short-Term Disability insurance, pay from the Employer, pay from the state, and any PTO time they saved. The goal was to do all the calculations for the end user and only present three most important things:
-
How much time they are able to take
-
How much pay they'll get paid
-
Whether their job is protected or not
The pay and time chart is the key feature and selling point of this product. It is a dynamic timeline chart that visually presents user's leave length and leave pay sources. As voice talent guides user through the explanation, different pay sources are presented as different colors to fill the weeks. This feature took months of collaborating with a team of engineers to implement and release. It was very tough to QA since there were so many possible situations as well. Because my role was both technical and creative, I also communicated ideas between the writer and engineers in addition to normal media production responsibilities.
