My name is Zhaowei Chen (aka “Vicky”). I was born and raised in Harbin, China before coming to the US to study Computer Graphics Technology with a specialization in Animation and Video Game Design at Purdue. I had a typical Chinese upbringing in which I spent most of my time playing Japanese imported video games, reading British children’s books, watching American super hero movies, and following the German national soccer team. Somewhere along the way, I developed a crush on Captain America and, thus, decided to stay here in States to begin my career.

I was a research assistant on several professors’ projects and was the web content manager for the campus’ website. I was on a virtual reality safety simulation video game project that helps mechanical engineering students identify dangerous behaviors in the laboratory.  I also worked as production crew for conferences, recording events, and editing and publishing the videos online.

In 2012, I joined Jellyvision's interactive media production team, and was promoted to Senior Media Producer in 2016.  I worked on Jellyvision's B2B benefits communication products, as well as creative services for Fortune 500 clients. I made several marketing, sales, explainer and eLearning materials to help clients solve their problems. I edited and produced digital media assets, such as sound effects, voice talent audio, text and motion graphics, to ensure a well-timed, seamless, engaging experience. I also managed the structure and conditional logic of the interactive products, so each user has a unique, customized experience.

In 2016, I was the subject of
a story featured on the front page of the Chicago Tribune business section which focused on my life and my role at Jellyvision.

In 2020, I switched my career to focus on corporate training and eLearning. I joined IAA's Training and Learning Development Department as a Multimedia and Motion Designer. I worked with subject matter experts and instructional designers to develop training materials such as video, animation, e-learning, social learning, gamification, and virtual reality for their 4500 corporate and field employees around the world. Training subjects included safety & security, customer care, process improvement, and diversity equity inclusion (DEI). I also built a studio within the department from scratch where I managed all the studio equipment and video/audio production materials. I additionally worked with outside vendors like voice talents and designed and produced on-location, studio, and remote video shoots.

Currently I work for KPMG's Creative Services (KPMG's in-house creative agency) - Web and Video team to develop high-level creative and complex design materials for the executive leadership and design projects with national visibility including marketing and communication materials.

I'm also a pretty competitive video gamer. I won 3rd place at Midwest Championships in Super Puzzle Fighter 2, and 3rd place at Robert Morris University Fireside Tournament for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.
